It’s October! That means Pumpkin Patches, fair days, crisp air, halloween, and I don’t know about you, but for me it also means ALLERGIES. I was out sick the other day and needed a simple sub plan. When I first started teaching, I would print off hundreds of worksheets for my sub and leave behind a boundless amount of fresh, sharpened pencils. But when I would come back the next day, there would be piles and piles of worksheets that I just ended up throwing away, and a fair amount of pencils that did not make it. RIP pencils….. So I hope this sub plan will simplify your life and make you feel at-ease when you aren’t able to be at work.
What you will need:
- My Fantasia 2000 playlist on Youtube or a copy of the dvd.
- About 15 copies of this FREE “Fantasia 2000” Follow along Q&A worksheet
- Set of Sheet Protectors.
- Small expo markers
For 2nd-5th Grade:
Put the 15 copies into the sheet protectors. Ask the sub to have students work in partners to answer questions, using the whiteboard markers, after each video is shown. Then have each group share their answers. When class is over, students can erase their answers so that the worksheets will be ready for the next class.
For PK-1st:
Simply have students watch video, and sub will ask questions outloud to the students and listen to their responses . You could also put blank pieces of copy paper into the sheet protectors, and have the younger students use whiteboard markers to draw the sounds of the music they hear. (high/low, loud/soft, etc.)
I hope you find this simple sub plan to be a helpful addition to your sub tub or lesson plans! And I also hope you are finding happiness and balance as the holiday season approaches. Remember that you are doing life-changing work and are a hero to many kiddos out there. But most importantly, don’t forget to take care of yourself!
